What is the Official H-E-B Product Tester Program?

The Official H-E-B Product Tester Program is a chance for you, an Owner and a Partner, to provide feedback on our Own Brand (OB) products through Taste Tests.

As you complete these Taste Tests, you will earn points and be rewarded with H-E-B Kodi® products!

How do I sign up to become an Official H-E-B Product Tester?

To sign up, please go to https://hebtester.com.

Here, you will complete a sign up form. Once you sign up, you will have your own personal H-E-B Product Tester account where you can view the number of points you have collected, schedule tests, and complete surveys.

Am I required to sign up and become an Official H-E-B Product Tester?

No. Joining and participating in the Official H-E-B Product Tester program is completely voluntary.

Who is eligible to become an Official H-E-B Product Tester?

You must be a current H E B Partner in good standing, and your primary work location must be SA#26. Partners who work at other stores are not eligible to participate in the Program, though we continue to evaluate the expansion of the Program to other stores in the future.

What happens after I sign up?

Once your sign up process is complete, we will send you a welcome email with instructions for you to complete your first survey. You will receive your welcome email no later than 5 days after you sign up.

How will I be contacted to participate in Taste Tests?

When we are ready to receive your feedback on OB products, you will receive an email with a URL link asking you to complete a screener survey. The screener survey ensures you qualify for a test based on a product you use or consume.

If you qualify, a product kit with samples will be delivered to your store for you to pick up and evaluate during your paid break time.

How often will I be contacted to participate in the Taste Tests?

Our goal is for you to receive weekly communication on products to test. However, there may be periods of time when you don’t hear from us for a couple of weeks or longer.

Please keep in mind: though you may hear from us every week, you may not necessarily qualify to participate in every test. In addition, even if multiple tests are offered at once, you will be limited to completing two product tests in any given week.

If I have qualified and signed up for a Taste Test, how do I receive my samples to test?

Product kits, which will contain your samples to test, will be delivered to your store through a 100% contactless experience.

You can pick up your product kit, for non-perishable items, in your main store conference room. Your product kit will be labeled with your name and will be placed on a set of shelves which will be branded as an Official H-E-B Tester product pick up area.

For perishable items, a set of shelves branded as an Official H-E-B Tester product pick up area will be in both the walk in fridge and freezer.

If I have qualified and signed up for a Taste Test, when will I receive my product kit?

When you complete your screener survey and sign up for a Taste Test, we will provide you a date and time of when your product kit will be delivered. Additionally, a confirmation email will be sent to your email which will include the delivery date and time.

Finally, once our tester admin team delivers your product kit, we will send you an email letting you know.

Once my product kit is delivered to my store, how quickly do I have to complete the Taste Test?

Typically, you will have 2-3 days to pick up your product kit and complete your Taste Test.

Specific dates and times will be provided when you sign up for the test.

If my product kit is delivered during a time that I am not scheduled, should I come to the store and pick it up?

No.

Please only pick up your samples during your paid break when you are scheduled to work. Prior to signing up for a Taste Test, you will need confirm through the screener survey that you are working the day of or at least 2 days after the scheduled delivery date.

After picking up my product kit, when should I complete the Taste Test?

Please complete the Taste Test and digital scorecard by the date provided by our team, which will be provided when you sign up.

All Taste Tests should be completed during your paid break(s). You can complete a Taste Test over a single 15 minute break or over multiple breaks, if you prefer.

How long will it take to complete a Taste Test?

A Taste Test will take less than 10 minutes to complete.

You will have the option to complete a Taste Test over a single break or multiple breaks.

For example, if you decided to complete a Taste Test over 2 break periods during a single shift, you would spend less than 5 minutes starting the Taste Test during your first break and less than 5 minutes completing the Taste Test during your second break.

Besides my product kit, do I need to bring anything else to complete a Taste Test?

Yes.

You will need to bring a Wi-Fi enabled device (ex. mobile phone), so you can complete your digital scorecard.

Besides the Wi-Fi enabled device, our tester admin team will supply everything else you need!

What exactly will I be doing during a Taste Test?

In most cases, you will be trying two blinded samples provided by our team. After trying the samples, you will rate them via a digital scorecard.

During the Taste Test, the digital scorecard will take your through every step.

How many samples will I try in a Taste Test?

In most cases, you will only try two samples.

How do I access the digital scorecard to rate my samples after I try them?

A URL link will be provided to you in your delivery confirmation email which will take you to your digital scorecard, if clicked.

Additionally, you can access your digital scorecard through your https://hebtester.com account.

Where do I find information about ingredients and allergens for the Taste Test?

During the screener survey, prior to signing up for a Taste Test, our team will provide you a list of ingredients and allergens for the items in the test. Here, you can opt out of the screener survey and not sign up for the Taste Test, after reviewing.

What do I do if I signed up for a Taste Test but I need to cancel?

Log into your Official H-E-B Tester account and click on the “Schedule” icon. From there, select the product test you would like to cancel and click “decline”.

What happens if I do not complete a Taste Test I signed up for?

If you do not complete a Taste Test you signed up for, you will not receive any points.

If you don’t pick up your product kit, our team will dispose of it 2 days after the Taste Test deadline.

How do I earn Kodi® products for participating in Taste Tests?

After you complete a Taste Test, 1 point will automatically be loaded to your product tester account within 5 business days, unless noted otherwise.

What type of Kodi® products can I get with my points?

Please note, points accumulate over the testing year. For example, after you earn 4 points, you will receive a travel mug. If you earn another 6 points during the testing year, you will have 10 total points for the year and will receive the low ball stainless steel cup.

Do I get to select the color or style for my Kodi Prizes?

No.

We will only order red travel mugs (4 points), stainless steel low ball cups (10 points), navy canteens (20 points) and grey square top soft sided coolers (36 points). However, due to warehouse inventory and store demands, we may not be able to provide these specific types or colors, and other products or colors may be substituted.

After I earn enough points to get a Kodi® product, how long will it take to receive my Kodi® product?

It may take up to six weeks AFTER the H-E-B fiscal period in which you qualified for the Kodi® product for you to actually receive the Kodi® product. For example, if you reached 4 points to earn a travel mug in period 5, you will receive your travel mug approximately 6 weeks after the start of period 6.

If I have earned a Kodi® product with my points, how will I receive it?

Rewards will be delivered to a set of shelves in a manager’s office at your store. The reward will be labeled with your name and we will send you an email letting you know it has been delivered, so you can pick it up. You don’t need to sign anything or need a manager’s approval to pick up your reward.

How long will I have to earn points and rewards?

You will have one Product Testing Year which starts on May 25th, 2020 and ends on June 30th, 2021.

Do my points carry over at the end of one product testing year?

No, they do not carry over or roll over.

What happens if I earn more than 36 points at the end of one product testing year?

If you want to keep participating in product tests, you’re welcome to do so! No additional rewards are guaranteed above 36 points, but we may issue special rewards for some of those who accumulate more points.

When completing product tests, do I need to be off the clock?

No.

Please remain on the clock when completing product tests. All product Taste Tests must be completed during your paid breaks and should not interfere with your ordinary duties or responsibilities.

Do I have to be on the H-E-B network to access my product testing account or complete a Taste Test?

No, you do not have to be on the H-E-B network.

Does my password for my product testing account change when I update my OnePass?

No, it does not. Your product testing account password will need to be updated separately and the site will prompt you to update your password when this is needed.

I’ve forgotten my password. Now what?

Click on “Lost Password” located under “Sign In” on the login screen (https://hebtester.com). Enter your email and click “Reset My Password”. You will receive an email within 30 minutes with a link to create a new password. This link will only be valid for two hours.
